About Louis Scarantino
Hi, my name is Louis Scarantino and I am on the Autism Spectrum. If I were to be completely honest, there’s much that I’ve seen and experienced in my time as a man with autism, most of which was actually a struggle. My years in high school were a struggle considering how I had difficulties interacting with other people and a very difficult special educations teacher who never really understood my Autism.
Suffice to say that Autism caused much more frustration around me than it induced empathy in people. It wasn’t until I graduated college with a degree in Office information technology, Suma Cum Laude with a 3.6 that something hit. People just don’t really understand Autism, and that’s where my story really starts.
Key Note Speaker
I feel that there is a need to encourage greater acceptability of autism in the greater society. Given my experiences with autism, there’s a lot of room for improvement in the research and parenting/education for autistic children. To that end, I work with various pro-autism organizations that work towards normalizing Autism and promoting research on the condition to make Autistic lives easier.
The most notable of my work has to be my book and my blogs. I’ve written a book on my experiences with love and looking for it. It’s called Love is Too Hard: The Dating (Mis)Adventures of a Man With Autism where I try to tell people about my dating lives with the intent of trying to explain to them the problems with dating in general and specifically for those with autism.
